EDITORIAL RATES & REVISIONS

What are your rates?

I follow the rate guidelines of the Editorial Freelancers Association.

Most authors want to know the costs of editing, ghostwriting, or coaching before deciding to hire a book editing or publishing professional. Please understand that in order to give you a Project Cost, I need to review your manuscript or source material and have a preliminary consult with you.

How many Revisions Do I get?

It is standard practice for editors and writers to limit the number of revisions to conform to the amount of time contracted for the author's work.

Manuscript Editing: The scope of manuscript editing, unless otherwise agreed to, is limited to one major revision (developmental editing) and two minor revisions (copy editing).

Ghostwriting: The scope of writing revisions, unless otherwise agreed to, is limited to one draft, one major revision (developmental editing), and one minor revision (copy editing).

What
factors Affect Cost?

Manuscript Editing: The two factors that determine the cost of getting your book edited so that it meets professional publishing standards are:

  1. Word (not page) length of your manuscript
  2. Type of editing the manuscript needs (developmental or copy editing).

Ghostwriting:  The three factors that determine the cost of getting your book written so that it meets professional publishing standards are:

  1. Word (not page) length of your manuscript
  2. Availability and quality of source material, and
  3. Familiarity or subject area expertise of the writer.
